Retro Klingon Bird of Prey Pt. 1

This Klingon concept was originally drawn in the DS9 days when an early version of a script asked for a new BOP design, after this drawing was done the new ship was written out so this one got shelved. It surfaced again as an alternate design also for “Unexpected” Well we all know the end results of this topic and it would go to various other meetings as an alternate but never did anything more than go for the ride.

I had no idea that was originally for an episode DS9.
Do you remember which Episode it was originally intended for?

    That was a great Episode.
I seen some of your stations weapons modification that the episode called for.
It always made me laugh seeing some of the Torpedo launchers firing Phaser and visa versa. I guess that was due to the FX department getting them mixed when they where creating those shots.

So, did these have anything to do with the ‘cabled’ BoPs we saw later on in ENT?

The BoP has always had a bit of a strange conceptual history, as it seemed to have originally been either a Romulan, or then at least a Romulan-inspired design. It was the first time that the Klingons got the bird motifs that had earlier been linked to the Romulans. Now.. this design obviously shows that there might not be such a direct Romulan connection, although on the other hand, the Valdore did look a bit like the movie BoP.

Any ideas on this from a design PoV?
