I found the disk of Pierre’s brilliant modeling, so here are some of the pieces he created for Episodes of Enterprise from last weeks posts!!! I so loved seeing What Pierre would come up with and I was always blown away by his awesome talents!!! The EDEN boys were way to good. Rob, Lee, and Coji to name a few really put their hearts into their work and I was always their biggest fan!!!
Nice perspective views of the Arctic transport. It now because of the windows gives me a feel for the size of the ship. In particular the viewports of the bridge(?).
Yeah I love this one and it was very hard to judge a scale of what you saw on the screen
Wow, thanks! Those are some cool new shots of sadly rarely featured vessels. Thanks for digging them up!
Howdy Jorg, I was worried when I couldn’t find them the other day!!
Awesome! Nice work on your design, really like the “messerscmitt”! So, was Pierre involved in the 602-club things you´ve promised?
Morning!!! he was for the ship but not in the bar,,, those will come tonight!!!
Great renders. 🙂 How long on average would Pierre and the others have had to build these models once your drawings were approved?
Not long,,, And I always heard that they wish they had more time!!! Even their quick models were very impressive
That Arctic ship was also in the ’08 SOTL as I recall.
Mesh are never finished, they are mostly abandoned in production. One reason it’s nice to build stuff for yourself as well, as you can sweat all the details to make it perfect.
Still, doing a shot for a still that can and will be scrutinized, that’s good, but for a production model that is being animated and motion-blurred and is in shots that last 3 to maybe 10 sec (that’s long) you’d never even see all the sweat you put as with s still shot orthos displayed mesh. Nice if you have the time though, as building über-detailed and über-painted detailed models is my druthers.

I always hate when all this work is done to be, like you said a short scene, or obscured by other elements or heavy atmosphere.
Great to see these designs pulled out and displayed on their own 🙂
Man, what I wouldn’t give to be able to pick Pierre’s brain! He is a modeling genious! Love the textures as well!
How cool must it be to see your drawings become models that then end up in a movie/show!!
I really need to learn Lightwave. I taught myself 3DS Max, but it seems Lightwave is the program that production companies prefer.
I’ll have to track Pierre down ad see if he’ll guest blog for a day!!! I would love to catch up and I am sure you have a lot you would like to talk about as well.

Ooo! That’d be fun!
BTW, I caught your Sketchbook interview on the DS9 6th season extras last night. Seriously good stuff! 🙂 I loved the design for the Cardassian orbital weapons platforms!
Man, that’s some awesome work. Between your designs and his models, it’s pure gold. I love that alien fighter and the warp 2 ship but that Arctic Shuttle is one of my favorites from the whole series. It looks cool Borgified but I like it even better before. It’s a great design and I love that it’s green where most Earth/Starfleet ships are light gray, light blue-gray or light tan.
I love to see what happens after they leave my desk,,, It’s very cool to see how a modeler will add their own ideas, details and creativity to what they are working on. Always is a treat to see what comes about when the show airs!!! I liked that green too.
I really enjoyed your drawings of all of these, but I’m blown away by the detail on the borgified Explorer!! I haven’t looked in depth at a borg vessel, and the amount of detail added to the original SF vessel is amazing!
I’m glad I have some time off today to take a closer look at this and some of Doug’s stuff…to much good stuff!! 🙂
Great pictures. Thanks for posting them!
sweet seeing getting to see these concept coming to life.
Wow I couldn’t even dream of better shots of the ships (well I can but I won’t complain for what we got) ! Pierre is really an awesome artist. I did a 3D model of the NX Alpha but the original is just unbeatable. Thank you for the pics John, I can’t wait to see what else you will find !
PS Am I the only one that sees Ent-era Romulan BoP in the Arctic vessel ? (the color and overall shape seem very similar)
The green does make it look quite Romulan. That’s the only thing I don’t like about the ship, although I do agree it’s nice to see a Starfleet ship that’s not grey or bluish.
johneaves: I always hate when all this work is done to be, like you said a short scene, or obscured by other elements or heavy atmosphere.
I often get some cripes about some of my work with folks sayin’ back off on the motion-blur or what-not, I can’t see the detail on your beautiful mesh.
But I’m into photorealism, and distortion, atmo, and motion-blurring, etc. are part of that aspect to making something photo-real/believable.
I always say, I always do full 6-view orthos renders of all my mesh if you want to see it in-and-of-itself, in all its detailed glory. But when it comes to putting it into scenography, some of the detail is gonna get lost for the sake of realism.
Believe me (as you know full well John), I’m the one sweatin’ all that detail, and that is the EXACT reason I do orthos, to show it off, to look at the model itself as the art. 😀

HI John,
My Name is Brandon MacDougall and just ran across your site!
I was lucky to work on Enterprise “2 eps” after Voyager (4 years)as 3D lead modeler “before Pierre came to Foudation”
I was asked by Steve P to model your Nx01-Alpha for the show.
please see http://96.9.54.101/liquidguitars.com/html/3d_design.html
I even added the folding wings for you when Doug made the hanger doors to small. check with Pierre if you like he knows.
I been a big fan of yours over the years and it was fun.
all the best,
Brndon MacDougall
John,
