I am running on the new Imac (Snow Leopard 10.6.3) and need to do DVD capture, not a rip or burn but individual screen grabs for work, DVD capture, grab, and screenshot + don’t work. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Apple respects the DRm on DVDs, so you need software that ignores it. Try VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/). I used it in the past to get screenshots from DVDs.

For screen caps, I use VLC. It is a player that permits screen grabs. Just play your movie on VLC and stop it wherever you want to grab. Use “command/shift/3 to do the grab. It will save the image file on your hard drive as a PNG file that you can then open in Photoshop or other aps.

It’s the first thing that came to mind for me as well. The official site of that freeware tool shows some additional advantages: videolan.org

Another “Snapper” I recently discovered is “Ashampoo Snap 3” and I am quite enamored with it. It isn’t too expensive 13 Euros or so (app. $16)
