Alicia Eaves, cowgirl up! and the Star trek art fundraiser auction.

Alicia and Kiowa

Well, friends thanks again for all the kind words and prayers for my daughter, Alicia, and the tragedy with her losing her horse, Kiowa. The accident happened on 10-10 and on 10-16 the girls had a rodeo on their 2010/2011 competition schedule. One of the other wonderful rodeo families (The Jaspers) heard about Alicia’s loss and brought over one of theirs for her to ride.  She had less than an hour to try her out and then we were off to the main events. Alicia and Olivia both carried a lock of Kiowa’s mane in their pockets and the rodeo began to Alicia riding tall and fast all day long. It was an extremely difficult day filled with tears, but both Alicia and Olivia are true cowgirls and stayed “cowgirl tuff”!

She carries Kiowa in her heart, as well as, her love for rodeo. Rising from where she has fallen she can’t be kept down and she is ready to move forward and ride again. Alicia has started to look for a new horse and with doing so we needed to find away to get her some funds to do so. Work has been fast furious and far between, so we came up with the idea of a fundraising auction featuring Star Trek art prints. We do so many fundraisers for all the different groups the girls participate in, so we thought it would be a perfect way to help her make some cash for getting that new horse.  I am going to put prints up on ebay starting tomorrow, but for all my friends here on the blog you can have a print of anything you have seen here on the blog(That is something that I have drawn, and also almost all the the pin up gals have so graciously given permission to sell copies of their pictures as well!) at a fixed price special!!!! For a $15 donation plus shipping you can get an 8’5 x11 print…. For $20 plus shipping you can size up to an 11×17 print… Or for those of you with a lot of wall space you can really move up to the massive 13×19 for $25 plus shipping. All pictures will be printed on high gloss paper and hand personalized to you or to friends for that fun little Christmas gift. Feel free to drop me a line at johneaves227@gmail.com anytime in regards to what you would like. and I can send a pay thru paypal or info for checks thru private email, If you would like to add on a little extra, you are more than welcome to do so and all donations to our horse fundraising is most appreciated!

Thanks so much for helping out with Alicia’s fundraising efforts. Below is a note of thanks from Alicia that she wanted me to share with everyone here.

“Howdy, I wanted to thank you all for all your caring responses on my dad’s blog. It means so much to me. Thank you for your support during this rough time. Even though Kiowa can’t be with me now I know she would want me to continue with rodeo and my dad and I have come up with the idea of a fundraiser because I will be needing a new rodeo horse. It would mean a lot if you would consider contributing to my fundraiser. Thank you so much for all the support and comments” 🙂

First: The photo of Alicia and Kiowa the fronts this post is absolutely beautiful! The connection between them is palpable. It’s a loving tribute to a young woman and her best friend and partner. John, if this photo isn’t framed on a wall somewhere in your home, it should be.

Second: I would love to contribute to the fundraiser, but I’d have to go back over some of the past entries to find the perfect piece of your artwork for me. How long are you planning on holding this fundraiser and how would we get payment to you?

Third: This is a special message to Alicia. Kiowa is still with you in spirit. She’ll let you know when you find the right horse to be your new partner and she’ll ride along side you at every future rodeo. Our loved ones never truly leave us. They remain in our thoughts and hearts and they help guide us as we move forward. If you have the time, go to YouTube and type “Paul Gross Ride Forever” in the search bar. It’s a song I hope will inspire you to keep that “Cowgirl Up!” attitude. Ride on, cowgirl. Show ’em how it’s done!

Hey there and thanks especially for the note to Alicia!!! she will love reading that this afternoon. I am going to make a more comprehensive list of pictures so there easier to identify. Alicia has a couple of horses in mind so we just have the auction up till she gets to where she needs to be which is about $3500. Thanks also for that picture comment, Its my very fav picture of the two of them.

I’ll start looking over your posted artwork to see which ones I’d like, then I’ll shoot you a private e-mail so we can exchange info.

A thought just struck me: It’s too bad you likely can’t sell prints of some of your pin-up photos. Selling prints of those would get you to your goal in a New York minute!

Hey I didn’t think about that so after I read your note I called all the gals and they said that they would be glad to let any of their prints go for the auction.

        Thanks buckaroo!

Wow! Glad the girls are so willing to help. Of course, that’s going to make my decision process much more difficult. Trek Art or Pin-Up? I mean, yeah, it’s a win/win all the way around, but stil…

John, is there a way to make a straight donation without causing you any costs?
For both of my sisters horses are an important part of life as well and I’d simply like to help.

    Hi John:
Very glad to hear that Alicia is moving forward with Kiowa in her heart – family, friends, and faith can get you through anything.

I would love to contribute to the fundraiser. You’ve posted so many images here over the last year what would be the best way to identify them to you. Would a link to the image work best? How would you like the payment sent – check, money order? Whatever is easiest for you.

The image you posted above of Alicia and Kiowa is priceless. For Alicia: Kiowa will always be with you.

    Take care,
    Richard

Hi John – I’d love to contribute, but being in the UK is that going to be a problem? I’d obviously expect to pay more for international shipping, just let me know how much (if you’re amenable to shipping abroad that is) and I’ll drop you a line – once I figure out what I’d like, there’s just been so much cool stuff you’ve shared with us!

    Hey John,

Would you be able to draw up a little Titanic picture for Darick? If not we still want to contribute to the fundraiser. Your art work is spectacular.

    Love,
    Dariann

Just wanted to give my best wishes to the family. I’m hoping that you’ll get enough donations to take a significant chunk out of that selling price on the horse she wants. I know they are not cheap.

I have sent an email, and am prepared to empty my virtual wallet. 😀

Great idea! I will watch out for something I just need to have. That is, if you ship to Germany.

My regards to Alicia. Ride on!
