    Hi John:
Wow – more great pictures. That QM Enterprise model sure looks nice! Judging from the costumes, it seems like a lot of people had a lot of fun. Thank you for posting.

How goes the move? Hope all is well.

    Best regards,
    Richard

Wow, I need to move to California. That way, I can go to this thing and meet some of these good looking women who go to it. 😀 (and see the other stuff too, let’s not get crazy here)

Great pics, as before. I LOVE that life-size Superman sculpt. It’s so real looking, a great tribute to my favorite Superman, Christopher Reeve. The models are great, especially Firefly. I love that show. And those Stormtrooper prints were just too funny. I laughed out loud over “REGRET… Those were the droids I was looking for” and “I had friends on that Death Star.” The pics make them even funnier, I love the booze glass in the Stormtrooper’s hand in the 2nd one. 😀 And, of course, the costumes are amazing.

Thanks again for sharing the pics. I hope you’re having fun with your film projects and that you and your family are settling into your new home. 🙂

Wonderful pics! I wish I could have been there live! BTW, the steampunk doctor in the white coat and goggles on his forhead is Dr. Horrible from Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog! Great costume! I’ve been looking for a labcoat like that!

Some very cool Stuff. Love those T-shirt Prints.
    Some very cool Costumes.
Though I not a fan or all the remakes Hollywood are spiting out in recent years. I have to say that police Cruiser from the new Total Recall looks cool. Sort of remind me of the one from Blade Runner. Though I have to say I am not sure how they can improve on Paul Verhoeven version. That is just one sweet film.

Thanks for posting these, John. It’s great to live vicariously through you and your camera lens. 🙂 Wow the first “booth girl” you posted is so cute. I hope she had fun there.

I have a promo poster on my wall of the F-14 model that I got at last year’s con, great to see how the model turned out. Bigger than I thought! I wonder how big a model of an aircraft carrier in the same scale would be. 😀

Hmm. I’m really undecided on whether I approve of them making a Total Recall follow up (or remake? Tell me it’s not a direct remake!), as the original is one of my favourite movies, but that police cruiser makes a great first impression. I take it the suit behind it also from the movie? I don’t recall any police cars in the original, so maybe this suggests the story will be different.

    Keep smiling!

    John.

I’ve just heard that Hollywood is doing a remake of the Korean classic “Oldboy”. They’ll never have the guts to do the ending (those who’ve seen the film will know what I mean) and it’ll just suck.

Why are there so many remakes about?

Wow – something I didn’t think was possible – a girl with purple hair more awesome than the Brits from UFO!

Wow, love that Total Recall display how it looks like it’s hovering. And that Christopher Reeve statue looks so lifelike.

See part of me is wondering if any of the costumed girls were getting freaked out by you taking pictures of them. Then I realized that this is a con and they’re probably used to it. But it would be funny if something like this happened.

Costumed Girl: Eww honey this guy is taking pictures of me.

Boyfriend: hey pal what do you think you’re doing!?

John: Hey its okay I designed the Enterprise-E.

Boyfriend: Oh uh sorry please continue.

I could have sworn that was actually Christopher Reeves for a minute there. What an amazing sculpture!

    That F-14 was cool too.

One question though; the new Total Recall? Doesn’t Hollywood have any original ideas left?

I’m all for remakes as long as they are entertaining and don’t just rehash the original. While I liked the original Total Recall, I liked the short story it came from better. Philip K. Dick wrote some great stories, many made into movies.
