by popular demand, Alicia’s fundraiser is back

Howdy all and thanks for all the support with Alicia’s Fundraiser to get a new horse. Alicia has done very well with the auction so far and has almost reached her goal with a lot of support from all our friends here on the blog. There have been tons of special requests for specific pieces and combinations of illustrations, as well as for the fundraiser to keep going for one more turn, so here ya go. All the requests have been granted and created as well as the listing of my special cachets and anniversary covers. What these are, are artwork or a photo montage created to celebrate the anniversary of either a historical event of aviation or to celebrate an anniversary of a favorite film, the art work is then printed on a # 11 envelope and sent to the location (city, country, or state) and then is cancelled on the anniversary date at the corresponding post office,, way cool collection items especially because they are numbered and limited to that amount,, I have been collecting these for years and then started making my own in 2003 because no one was making them for movie anniversaries. Listed below are the two original links to the first set of art and prints from the original fundraiser and two more links have been added to accommodate the new art and special pieces as well as a list of all the covers. To place an order send me an email to johneaves227@gmail.com. and list the name or # of the piece and what size you would like and I’ll get your fundraiser pack ready to go. Payments are accepted from the following; paypal, money order, or personal check. also if you like anything you order can be signed or personalized, and Alicia has made a special picture and thank you card that also comes with each picture, and combined shipping is always available.print prices are (13X19’s are $25.00 additional prints after 2 are $20 plus shipping which is about $6 to $9 depending on weight and where it is going, international is anywhere from $6 to $15) (11X17’s are $20 and additional prints after 2 are $15 plus shipping wich is about the same as the above) (8.5X11’s are $15 and additional prints after 2 are $10. plus shipping which is about $4. to $6. depending again on weight and where it is going to, International is $6 to $12). So with all that said here is another big Thanks to everyone for their help, and especially for all the extra kind notes and prayers for Alicia. Such a great group of folks and friends I have met here.

Happy Birthday to You!!! Leave a birthday wish for John

Yes, it is our host, Mr. John Eaves’ birthday today, so let’s celebrate in style.  Put on your best party attire and sit at your computer and join in the fun.

Over the hill jokes are not only welcome but encouraged.  Presents are not necessary, but it would be okay if you donate a few bucks to the charity of your choice….well, that’s okay birthday or no birthday.  😀

I’ll start us off with a joke

“You know your getting old when…

you know you can trust your friends with your secrets because they can’t remember them either” *bada bing*

I’m sure some of you can do better, but you can’t mock me unless you at least try.

No, seriously folks.  🙂

John started this blog over a year ago and has shared much of himself with his readers and put a lot of effort into bringing unique personal insights of Star Trek, sci fi art, movies and amazing people to our attention, making friends along the way.  Here’s thanks for the last year and wishes for many good posting years to come.

THANKS JOHN

Dea

PS. I’ll leave the header up for the weekend so the party can go on.  😀

mish mash sunday/monday

WOW, busier now than I was when I was on the Green Hornet!!  So to keep the blog alive, here is another mish mash day!!!  What you get today is two tropical locations, The first is Risa from DS9 and the second is the first pass for the Baku village from ST Insurrection.  In the script, the village was a grand set of ruins set in the side of a mountain high above a rain forest.  This was a fun drawing, and the set scaled down considerably by the time the construction department started up.  Next, direct from the Perpetual files comes a little starship called the USS Nelson.  This was one of the last ships I did for the Star Trek On-Line game when Perpetual was heading the gaming division.  I named this little craft after my friend, Doug Nelson, who was retiring from his post as the Museum Curator out at Edwards Air Force Base.  Mr. Nelson put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into creating one incredible milestone of a museum for the base.  And finally, here is the Xindi cargo ship from Enterprise episode #59, which later would be designated as Degra’s ship in later episodes.  OK friends, enjoy the Trek mash for today and hope to get back on track in a day or so!

it’s a mish mash Tuesday!

Well there ya go, one more week of insanity and only have time for another mish mash of things from the dark storage files of my computer.  For today’s non-organized entry, you’ll get to see some old ones from SeaQuest, Santa Clause III, and Sky High.  Hope everyone is having a great week, and I’ll keep things going here as best I can.

OK, and have a good one.

it’s a mish mash Friday

Howdy all, and thanks for the huge response and cool comments about all the Valdore posts!!  It is one of my favs and so glad to get all the feedback.  You never know how things will be received, especially when working on Star Trek stuff.  As a fan myself, it’s sometimes hard to see if what is happening on the drawing board is aesthetically right for the the show and it’s roots, and also be pleasing from an audience and Trek fans point of view!!  Very nice to get all the good and bad here and always an education!!!  Today is Mish Mash day only because of the heavy work schedule.  So with that, here is my very first Star Trek drawing done for Trek V, and it is a detail for the Bird of Prey wing cannon that was being built by Mike Joyce.  I was working in Greg Jein’s model shop at the time, and in a way Greg gave me my first art job.  HAAA!  Thanks Mr. Jein!  Next are two more pics from the scorpion model post from earlier this week, a robot concept for an ILM/Dreamworks project called XO that didn’t make it, and a bogus Magazine cover that had it’s roots as a DS9 piece of art.  OK, enjoy and have a great Friday!

Ryan's Nightmare

Ryan’s Nightmare

As promised I got this odd little piece cleared to show you all from  J.J.’s New Star Trek. This goes way back to the early days of the new film. Back when the earth was new and the oceans were still full of hot Magma Ryan Church was brought on to start the conceptualizing the new/old Enterprise. Since the movies goal was to break new ground and start at day one the consensus was to recreate the 60’s look without coping what was done by Jeffery’s 45 years ago. All the ideas and concepts were being re-thought and re-imagined. The inspiration for this ship idea came from images and ideas of Luigi Colani’s futuristic designs that seem to have also inspired Burt Ratan. This comp was to take those sweeping lines and create a starship that has the essence of the futuristic 1960’s but with a contemporary flare. Note the name of the starship!!! the registry # is 1701, but the name is the USS Sea Breeze!!! Wholly Cow can you imagine what that would have done to all of us fans,,, There would have been a lynching for sure… Anyways this was a very short lived idea and the notion to rename the ship quickly faded back to ENTERPRISE just like it should be… I asked Ryan what this was all about and this is the best answer he could come up with, and that it was for no other reason than to be different from the original. he also said he was glad that this awful thing died quickly,,, but it’s here for you today!!!  So Enjoy what could have been the last nail in the coffin had they gone thru with this hanus insult
