Howdy there and welcome to Pin-up Friday. It has been a long time since I’ve posted one of these, and today I am so pleased to share some pictures from last week’s shoot aboard the USS Midway with the lovely Miss Chelsea Rea.
It was the week of (July the 11-15th)…the big weekend of Comicon down in San Diego and one of the most anticipated weekends of the whole year! My buddy Nelson Broskey and I have been attending the con since the mid 80’s, and it sure grows in leaps and bounds every year. We arrived at the con for both Wednesday & Thursday’s exhibitions on the dealers floor, and on Friday we spent the day aboard the USS Midway, CV-41, for our annual Navy themed pin-up shoot. My friend Scott McGaugh cleared the way for us to shoot on the ship and we were ready to go….
This year we were very fortunate to work with Miss Chelsea Rea. Chelsea is a San Diego native and is very new to the modeling world, only just joining Model Mayhem last month. One of her life long dreams is to become a model, and I have to say that those wishes are so coming true. I saw her portfolio a week before the con; it was pure luck that both our schedules worked out on such short notice. Chelsea brought along her friend Scott as an escort, and we shot for close to two hours. Surprisingly, the ship’s flight deck was wide open, there were very few visitors on deck which opened up a lot of areas that are normally swamped with crowds and impossible to shoot at. As always, the magic of Photoshop helped to remove all of the folks that were in the background but on a smaller scale this time.
Chelsea was awesome and she has such an easy-going and natural talent with her style of posing. Full of confidence and a beautiful smile, she made every shot great. Before the shoot, she studied pin-up and discovered that to make the best facial expressions you silently say the vowels, A, E, I, O, and U. I had never heard of this technique before but man o man she was right on and nailed it!!! We had time for three costume changes, and each one she tackled with sleek elegance and vintage flirtatiousness. She was a fearless acrobat climbing in and on everything on the deck. I am sure you’ll agree Chelsea Rea is well on her way to greatness!!!! Tons of fun, and I so can’t wait to work with her again. So without any further chatter enjoy some of the pix from the shoot and be sure to check out her MM page by following the link below. BE SURE TO STAY TUNED for all the pix from Comicon coming next week.

Fantastic! I love Pin Up Fridays. 😀
She’s a beautiful lady and those are some great pictures. I’m sure she’s going places as a model, she looks like a natural. 😀
HAAA!!! You do like pin up Fridays so this one is dedicated to you!!!
No little red dress? (And wish you had a Mirror Universe style too.) A beautiful face, and she looks like she’d be good for some classic Grable style shoots.
No time for the red dress sadly!!!! and yes she would master the Betty Grable style!
“Now I must put down my starships and other cool movie art, for I have allocated the rest of the day to airplanes and hot pinup babes.”—a thought balloon I would draw coming from John Eaves’s head
HAAAAA! Your a nut!
Great pics! She has a soft and inviting look. By inviting, I mean, someone that you’d like to talk to and get to know better.
Hope you took lots of pictures at Comicon! 😀
Well said Matt, and yes I took tons of pix at the con,, I’ll have them up starting Monday
As usual, John you’ve out-Kirked yourself and everyone else with these shoots! A lady in every port indeed!
My favourites are the first shots because I get a strong sense of the glory days of civil aviation from the outfit Chelsea’s wearing; like a 60s British Airways air hostess.
This gal’s going places for sure!
I always await your pin up comments with baited breath, HAAA!!! you always nail it to a T!!! I was at LAX not to long ago and wound up wondering through the international terminal and I saw all of the British airways stewardesses!!! I didn’t know that they still wore very 60-esc style uniforms and hats!!! it was very cool to see!!!
WOW truly awesome there John. She surly has that vintage pin-up look about her in a Marilyn Monroe typr of way.
Thanks Rob!!!! she does in deed have a bit of Monroe in her look n style!
Yes I miss Pinup Friday. Now normally Im not one for blondes but Miss Chealse is spectacular!
HAAAA! I’m glad her magic swayed you a little!!!!
As Firefly put it feminine whiles!
Yeah Pinup Friday Back!!
I have missed these. Miss Rea, is a real stunner and I sure she never be out of work.
I have to say that the Black and white Picture is my fav.
Very good work as usual John, not just the models, but the location, lighting and composition. All that stuff matters. BTW I got my SOTL calendar and Klingon print from my buddy…thanks for signing them!
Thanks and I agree on all, HAAA! I need some more time to get more of her pix together,, I’ll post em when I do
Thanks Justin,, wish we lived closer and could sit down and work on all these things together!
Holy moly! I didn’t know you were a great photographer as well!! I love the old pin up and the midway is my fave place in San Diego..love the old planes, and the girl is pretty too!
THANKS EVA!!!! how fun that you have been there,, I never go to San Diego without stopping by the Midway for a photoshoot,, I think these pix are from my 7th or 8th shoot there. Sure miss ya little buddy
Don’t have time to read all the comments, which I always like to do…. I think she has a beautiful face and her make up is done just great! The dress is very classic looking and, like you pointed out, the pose on the wing is very pin-up! 🙂
BTW, the over-the-shoulder pick is just fabulous!! I actually LOVE her eyes in that, and on my screen I can only see down to about an inch above the dress (if I’m just scrolling in the blog) which really focuses on her eyes.
As Justin pointed out, this was quality work all around, both of you pulled out all the stops. 🙂
Oh and I almost forgot to point out the lipstick colored text…I had to do it! 😀
haaa thanks D,, it is hard to see things on the small screen, HAAA!
I mean I like it “cropped” at that spot. 🙂
