the beast of the book of revelation, chapters 13 & 17, for Deep Space 9 season 7

Howdy all!  Work is insanely busy and the blog has suffered badly!!!  Sorry for the long gaps and no replies back.  I have two bosses on Pirates from two different departments so I’m pulled in two directions all day, HAAA!  So, just to keep the blog alive, here is a drawing of the beast from Revelation chapter 17.  For the final season of DS9 we had to create art and text for a Cardassian ceremonial type (Bible) book, used by “Gul Dukat”, played by Mark Alaimo.  Ira Steven Behr, our producer, said draw anything that is evil for the illustrations in the book.  The beast from Revelation came to mind immediately and was a scripture I so wanted to turn into a drawing…the opportunity arose, and it’s one of my fav illustrations, especially because it is so far from all the mechanical work I usually do and the only dragon drawings that I have been able to sit down and work on!!!  So with that all said, time to hit the drawing board so have a good day, and I’ll catch up with everyone soon.

the Beast

From the book of Revalation Chapter 13

1Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name2Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were likethe feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Whois like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Rev 13:1-4

From the book of Revalation Chapter 17,

17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

17:9 And here [is] the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, [and] the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [are] called, and chosen, and faithful.

17:15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

17:16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

17:17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the
